Fuji X100VI First Impressions

I was fortunate enough to get a Fuji X100VI at launch. How I accomplished the feat is a story for another day, but my purpose was clear: document everyday life without overthinking it.

I was taking a chance on the point-and-shoot as someone who had never owned (or held) a Fujifilm camera. Before this, I unsuccessfully attempted to force content creation and EDC duties on a single camera, the Sony A7 IV. It’s a super-capable hybrid, but no. Lugging around the camera in the event a mundane moment turned photo-worthy proved highly impractical.

After the excitement of owning the camera subsided, it was time to determine if the $1599 gamble would pay off. Initially, I was unsure. During this time, I was home mainly, and while the X100VI was compact with beautiful colors and dope image quality, I wondered if it was just a new toy to explore and if its novelty would ultimately wear off. Things changed when I carried the camera on a family outing to Carowinds.

I get it. I understand the hype.

Since then, I’ve taken the camera along on a quick Easter weekend trip, solidifying its spot as a perfect travel companion. The EDC part requires me to make everyday life less mundane, but that’s on me. It’s an amazing camera that I’ve come to love in a short time.
